This Hillsborough residence is a bold, modern home designed for a family of four, developed through a long-standing relationship that began with the renovation of their previous home and continued with the design of this new ground-up residence. From the earliest stages, the project was a close collaboration with Carrasco & Associates and the homeowners, resulting in an avant-garde yet highly livable single-family home.

The design responds to the natural slope of the site by organizing the house into two structural volumes connected by a transparent staircase that links all three levels. Expansive glazing frames panoramic views of Hillsborough’s landscape, while the layout prioritizes openness with generous communal areas, a dedicated entertainment level with a home theater, and a more private wing for the primary and guest suites.

Inside, the palette is clean and architectural, allowing light, volume, and carefully selected pieces to define each space. European furnishings add character and individuality, while fully integrated lighting systems from Kreon and Pure Edge Lighting are seamlessly recessed into the architecture, reinforcing a sense of precision and continuity. Moments like the glass-staircase, the panoramic breakfast nook, and sculptural lighting elements create a home that feels both refined and deeply connected to its surroundings.
